Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British American artist and a sitarist is best known for her musical talents. She was the youngest and first female to win a British House of Commons Shield she has had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian of Indian descent to perform live in concert and act as a host at the awards ceremony. Anoushka shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She is the student and sister of Ravi Shankar. Born in London She spent her first few years of her life bouncing between London and New Delhi. Her debut concert was on stage in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. After moving to Encinitas, the state of California, in 1999 she earned the high-school diploma. Anouskha is still a young woman, but she has a very remarkable career in the field of singing and recording. Her father was with her in many performances for some time. Her debut solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy award-winning album Live At Carnegie Hall. Stage performance is a important aspect of her life. She has performed in a variety of important venues across the globe. Her career doesn't just comprise music. In 2002, she released the book Bapi The love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which gives a special respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka shankar is a rising celebrity and her popularity will keep on growing. Anoushka spent a lot of traveling between London and Delhi in her early years. Later, she moved to California to attend high school. From the age of nine she started studying music with her father making her performing first on the sitar 4 years later during his birthday party in Delhi. Anoushka was a part of her father throughout his global tour, gained an impressive quantity of knowledge. In her teenage years she performed in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and even recorded with George Harrison. She was the only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament to recognize her musicianship and talent as a preeminent musician of music in Asian Arts.
